Overview

Historically, Zanzibar was the trading hub of East Africa, drawing merchants and explorers from diverse cultures including Sumerians, Assyrians, Phoenicians, Arabs, Chinese, and Malays. Famous explorers such as Burton, Speke, Livingstone, and Krapf commenced their journeys from these shores. The region is renowned for its stunning sandy beaches fringed by coral reefs, warm, clear blue waters, and idyllic islands. It offers excellent opportunities for snorkelling and diving, fantastic deep-sea fishing, and a variety of water sports activities.

A visit to the historic Stone Town, with its narrow winding streets, bustling markets, and vibrant bazaars, provides a rich cultural experience. Often referred to as the “Spice Island,” Zanzibar is famous for its production of cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, cardamom, pepper, and other spices.
